Salient, described as a quality, point, or aspect that is standing out conspicuously.
There are certain times and places where we experience changes; however, there are also constant and unique institutions which will remain as symbols of an era. Historical events will exist over time, but these institutions will help shape history. An object which calls itself "salient," is one which reaches your attention in a number of ways, ultimately through quiet distinction and clarity.
Throughout history, what is salient shapes the world around it — the trailblazers, the symbols, the guiding lights. In our city of perpetual motion, St. Joseph’s College remains one such beacon. Its presence, steadfast and true, continues to catch the eye and move the heart, radiating values that shine ever brighter through the passage of time. We are proud to present the theme of the 151st Anniversary Green and White Day – Salient.
As we celebrate the 151st Anniversary of our school, we also begin a new chapter in the story of a legacy which is alive and growing through its evolution. SJC continues to be guided by faith, tradition and a vision. It is now stepping boldly into this new chapter, with a renewed sense of that purpose and an ability to inspire yet more generations of Josephians to fulfill their potential, to rise to greatness and to shine brightly amongst their peers. SJC continues to possess this unique identity, to inspire countless people into the future, to stand out as a premier college, and to have an impactful legacy for generations to come.
STAGE PROGRAMME
10:00 - 10:45 | Opening Ceremony of the 151st Green and White Day
Salient’s official kick-off ceremony. The Green and White Day commences as our Guest-of-Honour, Principal, and the President of the Students' Union give their respective welcoming speeches.
11:00 - 11:30 | Speech Performance
We are delighted to have spectacular speech performances from awardees of the Speech Festival. These articulate individuals have dedicated significant effort to practice and prepare for their competitions across various genres, including Chinese, Putonghua, and English, achieving remarkable results. This programme will provide an excellent opportunity for them to showcase their competent elocution to the public.
11:30 - 13:00 | Music Performance
Our music boys are renowned for perfect discipline, exceptional musicality and enthusiastic participation in a wide range of contests. They are therefore proud to exhibit their impressive skills in playing different instruments.
13:15 - 14:15 | Junior Committee Programme
Junior Committee members from the Students' Union will host a series of programs, including but not limited to trivia questions and interactive games with our teachers. Do not miss out if you would like to know more about our teachers!
14:30 - 18:00 | Internal Talent Quest (ITQ) Semi-Finals Performance
After a challenging heat round, outstanding participants have advanced to the semi-finals of the ITQ. With a broad spectrum of talents, the contestants will keep you on the edge of your seat with delivery in their own style. Five teams of guest performers have also been invited to the stage. Make sure you look for the best place around the campus to enjoy the show!
18:00 - 18 :15 | Guest Performance
We have invited a prominent old boy singer to perform on the stage. Stay tuned!
18:15 - 19:00 | Old Boys' Programme
We invited various old boys from Saint Joseph's that are also currently teaching in our school.
19:00 - 19:30 | Teachers’ Performance
Do you know that teachers in SJC have another side beyond the classrooms? Many of them indeed possess extraordinary flairs in singing. The stage of the Green and White Day will be handed over to them to exploit this golden chance to amaze and amuse our evening visitors.
19:30 - 20:00 | Closing Ceremony
To conclude our grand Green and White Day, our Executive Committee members will recollect their tenure of service and share their feelings as Josephians with a closing speech. We wish to introduce our spirit of Green and White to our guests and pass it on to our fellow schoolmates. Do stay with us till the end of the programme!
